SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1949.

CHAPTER 144
(House Bill 135)

AN ACT to add a new section to Article 27 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1947 Supplement), title "Crimes and
Punishments", sub-title "Sabbath Breaking", said new sec-
tion to be known as Section 573C and to follow immedi-
ately after Section 573B of said Article, authorizing the
exhibition of motion pictures on Sunday in 'the First Elec-
tion District of Anne Arundel County and providing for a
referendum thereon.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That a new section be and it is hereby added to Article
27 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1947 Supplement),
title "Crimes and Punishments7', sub-title "Sabbath Break-
ing", said new section to be known as Section 573C, to follow
immediately after Section 573B of said Article, and to read
as follows:

573C. (a) Nothing contained in Sections 560 and 576 of
this Article shall be construed to prohibit or make unlawful
the exhibition of motion pictures after 1 P. M. on Sunday in
the First Election District of Anne Arundel County, whether
the same be exhibited with or without a charge or admission
fee. The work or employment of any operator, ticket seller
or other employee or attendant in connection with such
exhibition, shall not be unlawful because performed on Sun-
day.

(b) Any person, firm or corporation violating any of the
provisions of this section shall be deemed guilty of a mis-
demeanor, and upon conviction thereof shall be subject to
a fine of not more than One Hundred Dollars ($100. 00), for
each and every such violation.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That all laws or parts
of laws, whether Public General or Public Local Laws, incon-
sistent with the provisions of this Act, be and they are hereby
repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.
