To the Clerk of the Court of Appeals:
I, BERTRAM L. BOONE, II, SECRETARY OF STATE OF THE STATE
OF MARYLAND, pursuant to the direction contained in Section
203 of Article 33 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1947
Supplement), DO HEREBY CERTIFY, That at an election held in
the City of Cumberland, Allegany County, Maryland, on Tues-
day, March 16th, 1948, an Act known as Chapter 854 of the
Acts of the General Assembly of 1947, was submitted to the
duly qualified voters of the City of Cumberland, Maryland, for
their adoption or rejection under the provisions thereof, said
Act being:
"An Act to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
13 of Article 1A of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland (1930 Edition), title 'City of Cumberland',
increasing the compensation of the Mayor and Council-
men. "
AND i DO CERTIFY, That at said election 2, 535 votes were
cast in favor of the adoption of Chapter 854 of the Acts of
1947, and 3, 242 votes were cast against the adoption of said
Act, and a majority being cast against the adoption of the
said referred law, it has failed of ratification.
IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, I have hereunto sub-
