To the Clerk of the Court of Appeals:
I, BERTRAM L. BOONE, II, SECRETARY OF STATE OF THE STATE
OF MARYLAND, pursuant to the direction contained in Section
203 of Article 33 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1947
Supplement), DO HEREBY CERTIFY, That at the General Election
held in this State on Tuesday, November 2, 1948, an Act
known as Chapter 675 of the Acts of the General Assembly
of 1947, was submitted to the duly qualified voters of Allegany
County, Maryland, for their adoption or rejection under the
provisions of Article 16 of the Constitution of the State, said
Act being:
"An Act to add a new section to Article 33 of the Anno-
tated Code of Maryland (1939 Edition), title 'Elec-
tions', as said Article was revised by Chapter 934 of
the Acts of 1945 of the General Assembly of Maryland,
to provide for the use of voting machines in Allegany
County in the next primary and general election to be
held in 1948, and all elections held thereafter in said
county. "
AND i DO CERTIFY, That at said election 5, 661 votes were cast
in favor of the adoption of Chapter 675 of the Acts of 1947,
and 7, 637 votes were cast against the adoption of said Act,
and a majority being cast against the adoption of the said
referred law, it has failed of ratification.
