WM. PRESTON LANE, JR., GOVERNOR. 1927
provide the funds directed to be paid, rather than authorize
them to do so. Therefore, I am vetoing this Bill.
SENATE BILL No. 307
AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 163
of Flack's Code of Public Local Laws of Anne Arundel
County (1947 Edition), being Article 2 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland, title "Anne Arundel County", sub-
title "Assessments", relating to the expenses of the Super-
visor of Assessments and of the County Assessors of Anne
Arundel County and levying a tax therefor.
As this Bill is merely a duplication of existing law, I have
concluded to veto it.
SENATE BILL No. 308
AN ACT to add a new section to Flack's Code of Public Local
Laws of Anne Arundel County (1947 Edition), being Article
2 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, title "Anne
Arundel County", to be under a new sub-title "License In-
spector", said new section to be known as Section 390A and
to follow immediately after Section 390 of said Code, re-
lating to the appointment of a License Inspector for Anne
Arundel County, his duties; and the duties of the County
Commissioners of said County relating to licenses.
Both this Bill and House Bill No. 677 provide for the
appointment of a license inspector for Anne Arundel County.
Since House Bill No. 677 has been approved and has now
become law (Ch. 625), at the request of the County Commis-
sioners I have vetoed this Bill.
HOUSE BILL No. 776
AN ACT to add a new section to the Anne Arundel County
Code (1947 Edition), being Article 2 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Anne Arun-
del County", sub-title "Miscellaneous", said new section to
be known as Section 250A and to follow immediately after
Section 250 of said Code, relating to retirement of County
Police and Firemen in Anne Arundel County.
The provisions of this Bill are inconsistent with the pro-
visions of House Bill No. 688 (Ch. 631), which provided for a
retirement system for members of the police department of
Anne Arundel County, and for that reason the Senator from
that county requests that the Bill be not approved.
The Bill has been vetoed.
