WM. PRESTON LANE, JR., GOVERNOR. 1685

28. POLLING PLACES. Polling places in the several
precincts of the City shall be the same as for the primary
election, and the Board of Election Supervisors shall in the
same manner place therein the necessary equipment and per-
sonnel.

29. TABULATION, (a) The said Board shall complete
and verify the tabulation of all votes cast in the said general
election. It shall then make prompt announcement of the re-
sults. The candidate receiving the highest number of votes
for Mayor shall be declared Mayor-elect, and the four candi-
dates receiving the highest number of votes for Councilman
shall be declared Councilman-elect. The results of the tabula-
tion shall be reported to the Mayor and City Council, includ-
ing the results of any referendum.

(b) If the two candidates for Mayor shall receive an equal
number of votes according to the said tabulation, or if any
number of the candidates for City Councilman shall receive
an equal number of votes so that it is not possible to specify
the four highest candidates on this list, a special election
shall be held seven days after the regular municipal general
election. Only the candidates so receiving an equal number
of votes shall be voted upon at such special election, and
those receiving the highest number of votes cast shall then
be designated in order to complete the list of candidates
declared duly elected as Mayor or City Councilman, as the
case may be.

30. SPECIAL ELECTIONS. Except as provided in Sub-
section 29 (b) above, the Mayor and City Council shall give
at least thirty days' notice of the holding of special elec-
tions and referenda, by due advertisement in every daily
newspaper published in the City. The City Clerk shall there-
upon promptly certify to the Board of Election Supervisors
the candidates and/or questions to be voted upon at said
special election or referendum, and the said Board shall
thereupon proceed as in the case of regular municipal general
elections.

31. COST. The Mayor and City Council shall pay all
actual and reasonable expenses of any said general or special
election, on behalf of the Board of Election Supervisors.

32. VOTING MACHINES. If the Board of Election
Supervisors conducts county elections by the use of voting
machines, such machines also shall be used in the said gen-
eral or special election, with the other provisions of this sub-
title to be modified accordingly.
