prior to the year 1949. It shall be unlawful to use any boat
exceeding seven gross tons reckoned by rules of custom
house measurement in the waters of Fishing Bay, located
in Dorchester County, and no boat licensed to dredge oysters
in the waters of Dorchester and Talbot Counties shall use
any oyster dredge with bar over forty-two inches weighing
more than one hundred thirty-five pounds gross.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1949.

CHAPTER 701
(House Bill 104)

AN ACT to add a new section to Article 96 1/2 of the Anno-
tated Code of Maryland (1947 Edition), title "Veterans",
said new section to be known as Section 49, to follow imme-
diately after Section 48 thereof, and to be under the new
sub-title "War Orphans", providing for payments for the
education of the children of certain veterans of the Armed
Forces of the United States.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That a new section be and it is hereby added to Article
96 1/2 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1947 Edition), title
"Veterans", said new section to, be known as Section 49, to
follow immediately after Section 48 thereof, and to be under
the new sub-title "War Orphans", and to read as follows:

WAR ORPHANS

49. (a) (Children of Veterans. ) Any child between the ages
of sixteen and twenty-three, inclusive, of any person who
served in the Armed Forces of the United States and who was
killed in action or who died as a result of such service be-
tween December 7, 1941 and September 2, 1946, if such person
was a resident of this State at the time of his induction
shall receive, upon application therefor to the State Board
of Education, State aid for tuition, matriculation fees, board,
room rent, books and supplies for such child attending any
of the following-named institutions approved by said Board:
An educational or training institution of college grade or any
other institution of higher learning or commercial training,
a teachers college, a vocational school or any accredited mili-
