SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1949.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
696 of Article 27 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1939 Edition), title "Crimes and Punishments", sub-
title "Cheltenham School for Boys", changing the name
of said school to "Boys' Village of Maryland", and
changing the name of said sub-title accordingly.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 696 of Article 27 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1939 Edition), title "Crimes and Punishments",
sub-title "Cheltenham School for Boys", be and the same
is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, and
that the name of said sub-title be and the same is hereby
changed to read "Boys' Village of Maryland", and all to
read as follows:
Boys Village of Maryland
696. There shall be established in the State an institu-
tion to be known as the Boys' Village of Maryland. Said
institution is hereby declared to be a public agency of said
State for the care and reformation of colored male minors
committed or transferred to its care under the laws of this
State. It shall be under the supervision, control and man-
agement of a Board of Managers to be appointed as here-
inafter provided.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That from and after
July 1, 1949, the said Cheltenham School for Boys shall be
known and referred to as the Boys' Village of Maryland,
and every reference to said Cheltenham School for Boys
in any public general or public local law of this State, or
in any resolution, ordinance, rule or regulation of any
political sub-division thereof, shall be taken and construed
to be a reference to the Boys' Village of Maryland.
SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1949.
