"The National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform
State Laws", to draft uniform laws to be submitted for the
approval and adoption of the several States and to recom-
mend such action as shall best accomplish the promotion of
such uniformity in legislation.
(b) Such commissioners shall hold office for a term of four
years or until their successors have been duly appointed.
No member of said board shall receive any compensation for
his services as commissioner but each commissioner and the
Associate member of the National Conference from Maryland
shall be entitled to receive his actual disbursements for his
expenses in performing the duties of his office, not to exceed,
however, in the aggregate the amount of the appropriation
to said commissioners made from time to time in the budget.
In case any of the members so appointed as above will not
undertake the office of this commission or in case of a
vacancy on said board, caused by death, resignation or other-
wise, such vacancy shall be filled by the Governor.
(c) Said board may employ such persons and incur such
expenses as may be necessary in the performance of their
duties but the annual expense of said board shall not exceed
such sum as may be appropriated therefor in the budget.
(d) The said board may, out of its annual appropriation,
contribute to the expenses of the National Conference of
Commissioners on Uniform State Laws such sum as they
may think proper, not exceeding, however, Three Hundred
Dollars ($300. 00) a year.
(e) Said board shall report to the Legislature at each regu-
lar session thereof an account of its transactions and its ad-
vice and recommendations, as required by this section.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1949.
