2. No person engaged in, connected with or employed on a
newspaper or journal or for any radio or television station
shall be compelled to disclose, in any legal proceeding or trial
or before any committee of the legislature or elsewhere, the
source of any news or information procured or obtained by him
for and published in the newspaper or disseminated by the
radio or television station on and in which he is engaged, con-
nected with or employed.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1949.

CHAPTER 615
(House Bill 653)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
17 of Article 73B of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1947 Supplement), title "Pensions", sub-title "Employees
of Municipal Corporations", relating to pensions for cer-
tain Public Library Association employees and for the
employees of certain boards and commissions.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 17 of Article 73B of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1947 Supplement), title "Pensions', sub-title
"Employees of Municipal Corporations", be and it is hereby
repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

17. (Definitions. ) The following words and phrases as
used in this sub-title, unless a different meaning is plainly
required by the context, shall have the following meaning:

(1) "Municipal corporation" means county, incorporated
town or municipality or special taxing area or other political
sub-division of the State, including any public library asso-
ciation or organization receiving part or all of its funds
from or through any such county, town, municipality, special
taxing area or other political subdivision of the State, and
also including any board or commission created by an Act
of the General Assembly for public purpose and not for the
profit of any private person or corporation.

(2) "Legislative body" means County Commissioners, City
Council, Town Council, President and Commissioners, Bur-
