SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1949.

CHAPTER 116

(Senate Bill 271)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sec-
tion 29 (a) of Article 66 1/22 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland, (1947 Supplement), title "Motor Vehicles",
sub-title "Administration—Registration—Titling", pro-
viding for the extension of time during which period
registration cards and registration plates may be used.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 29 (a) of Article 66 1/2 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland, (1947 Supplement), title "Motor Ve-
hicles", sub-title "Administration—Registration—Titling, "
be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amend-
ments, to read as follows:

29. (Expiration of Registration. ) (a) Every vehicle
registration under this Article and every registration card
and registration plate issued hereunder shall ex-
pire at midnight on the 31st day of March of the regis-
tration year for which issued; provided, however,
that with respect to those registration cards and plates
expiring March 31, 1949, the Department may, with the
approval of the Governor, extend the period during which
registration cards and registration plates of any class or
classes of vehicles may be used.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is
hereby declared to be an emergency measure and necessary
for the preservation of the public health and safety and
having been passed by a yea and nay vote, supported by
three-fifths of all the members elected to each of the two
Houses of the General Assembly, the same shall take effect
from the date of its passage.
