1322 LAWS OF MARYLAND. [CH. 556

(c) Conduct of Elections. The Board of Aldermen may
make all necessary rules and regulations not inconsistent
with this sub-title for the conduct of elections, for the pre-
vention of frauds in elections, and for the recount of ballots
in case of fraud or doubt,

(d) Nominations. Any qualified person may be nominated
for the office of Mayor or Aldermen by petition of any five
electors of the town who shall be designated as his sponsors.
Nomination petitions shall be filed in duplicate with the
Election Board not earlier than 90 days nor later than 10
days before the election and shall be substantially in the
following form:

"We, the undersigned, five electors of the Town of Liberty-
town, hereby nominate and sponsor.............. whose

residence is................. for the office of............

to be voted for at the election to be held on June.........,

and we individually certify that we are qualified to vote for
a candidate for town office.

Acceptance of Nomination
I hereby accept the nomination for......................

and agree to serve if elected.

The Election Board by one of its members shall note the
date of filing on both copies of the petition and sign as in
receipt thereof, giving the duplicate copy to the candidate.
No nomination shall be accepted unless accompanied by a
signed acceptance of nomination as above provided on the
form, and a deposit by the candidate or his sponsors of five
dollars. The Election Board shall preserve one copy of the
Nomination Petition and Acceptance for two years. The
$5. 00 deposit shall be returned to the candidate if he receives
at least ten (10) votes at the election, otherwise said deposit
shall be forfeited and paid into the general fund of the Town.
Any candidate may withdraw his nomination not later than
the last day for filing nominations by filing a notice of with-
drawal with the Election Board. Within 5 days after the
filing of a nomination petition, the Election Board shall
