be recorded until the County Engineer has approved the width,
grade, and alinement of highways, streets, alleys and other
public rights-of-way in the proposed sub-division and shown
on said plat, such approval to be given in accordance with
regulations made under authority of law by the Board of
County Commissioners.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1949.

(House Bill 374)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
214 of Article 23 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1939
Edition), title "Corporations", relating to the power of
railroad companies to borrow money.

SECTION 1. Be It enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 214 of Article 23 of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1939 Edition), title "Corporations", be and it
is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read
as follows:

214. Such company shall have power to borrow money on
the credit of the corporation, at a rate of interest to be
agreed upon by the respective parties, and may execute
bonds, debentures, promissory notes or any other appro-
priate evidence of indebtedness therefor, and to secure the
payment thereof, may mortgage and pledge the property and
income of such company.

SEC. 2. And be> it -further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1949.
