with an explanation of the nature of the petition to which
said persons' names are affixed. Where said nomination
petitions are filed with the Board of Supervisors of Elec-
tions, said Board within thirty days after the filing of
such petition shall cause to be published at least once in
a newspaper of general circulation throughout the County,
the names of all of the signers of any such petition to-
gether with an explanation of the nature of the petition to
which such persons' names are affixed. The filing fees
required by Sections 53 and 55 of this Article, shall accom-
pany any nomination petition filed, as aforesaid. In case
of any vacancy which may exist in respect to any office or
Delegates to Convention, by reason of there being no can-
didate to file for the same in any such primary election
such vacancy shall be filled and the certificate of nomina-
tion filed with the Secretary of State or the Board of
Supervisors of Elections, as the case may be, not later than
fifteen days before the day on which the primary is held
or should be held under the primary election law.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1949.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Sub-
section (s) of Section 37B of Article 87 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1947 Supplement), title "Sheriffs",
sub-title "Compensation and Duties", providing for an
additional Deputy Sheriff in Somerset County and for
his salary.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sub-section (s) of Section 37B of Article 87 of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1947 Supplement), title
"Sheriffs", sub-title "Compensation and Duties", be and
it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to
read as follows:
37B.
(s) The Sheriff of Somerset County shall receive an
annual salary of $3, 600. He shall appoint a Chief Deputy
