SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That all laws and
parts of laws inconsistent with the provisions of this Act
are hereby repealed to the extent of such inconsistency.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1945.

CHAPTER 770.

(Senate Bill 447)

AN ACT to add a new section to Article 23 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title
"Wicomico County, " sub-title "Salisbury, " said new sec-
tion to be known as Section 279A and to follow imme-
diately after Section 279, of said Article, prescribing an
additional salary for the Clerk of Salisbury.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That a new section be and it is hereby added to Article 23
of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930
Edition), title "Wicomico County, " sub-title "Salisbury, "
said new section to be known as Section 279A, to follow
immediately after Section 279 of said Article and to read
as follows:

279A. In addition to the salary provided for in the
preceding Section, the Clerk of Salisbury shall receive the
sum of six hundred dollars ($600. 00) each year to be paid
in equal monthly installments from the revenues of the
municipal water department.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted. That the provisions
of this Act shall not become effective until the expiration
of the term, of the present Clerk of Salisbury unless a
vacancy in said office accrues before the expiration of the
present term, at which time all the provisions of this Act
shall become effective, it being the intention of the General
Assembly that the provisions of this Act shall apply to
the successor to the present Clerk of Salisbury.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act is
hereby declared to be an emergency law and necessary for
