title "Health and Sanitation" (Metropolitan District),
as the same was repealed and re-enacted by Chapter 186
of the Acts of 1937, providing for an increase in com-
pensation, as of December 1, 1946, and a clarification
of administrative powers and duties of the County Com-
missioners of Baltimore County in the exercise of their
jurisdiction under the Metropolitan District Act of Bal-
timore County.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 328 of Article 3 of the Code of Public Local
Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Baltimore
County, " sub-title "Health and Sanitation" (Metropolitan
District), as the same was repealed and re-enacted by
Chapter 186 of the Acts of 1937, be and the same is hereby
repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as
follows:

328. (a) For the purpose of carrying out the provisions
of this Act, said District shall be under the jurisdiction of
the County Commissioners of Baltimore County, herein-
after called Commissioners. The Commissioners shall meet
at their office and sit for the transaction of business under
this Act, on Monday of each week, and on such other days
as may be necessary. Each of the Commissioners shall
receive, in addition to any sum now or hereafter provided
by any other law, the sum of twelve hundred dollars per
annum, payable monthly, as compensation for the discharge
of the duties imposed upon them under this Act. Begin-
ning December 1, 1946, the compensation of said Commis-
. sioners for the discharge of their duties under this Act,
shall be eighteen hundred dollars per annum, payable
monthly.

(b) The Commissioners shall appoint and fix the com-
pensation of a chief sanitary engineer, and such engineer-
ing, advisory, clerical and other force and help as in their
judgment are necessary for carrying out the provisions of
this Act, may discharge such appointees at pleasure, may
authorize the making of appointments by the chief sanitary
engineer, and may exact from them such indemnity bonds
as they may deem proper.

(c) The Commissioners shall publish annually in two
newspapers of general circulation published in Baltimore
County a full and true account of their receipts, expenses
and expenditures under this Act, showing in full the
financial condition of all accounts and funds of the Metro-
politan District. Prior to such publication, their accounts
shall be audited by a certified public accountant to be
employed and paid by the Commissioners out of such
