CHAPTER 712.
(Senate Bill 329)

AN ACT to repeal Sections 470, 471, 472 and 473 of Article
4 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1938
Ed. ), title "Baltimore City, " sub-title "Clerks of the Law
Courts of Baltimore City, " and to enact in lieu thereof
two new Sections, to be known as Sections 470 and 471
and to follow immediately after Section 469 of said
Article, relating to the bonds of the Clerks of the Law
Courts of Baltimore City and providing for removal of
Clerk when bond not given as directed.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Sections 470, 471, 472 and 473 of Article 4 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1938 Ed. ), title
"Baltimore City, " sub-title "Clerks of the Law Courts of
Baltimore City, " be and the same are hereby repealed, and
that two new Sections be and they are hereby enacted in
lieu thereof, said new Sections to be known as Sections
470 and 471, to follow immediately after Section 469 of
said Article, and to read as follows:

470. Beginning with November 5, 1946, the Clerk of the
Superior Court of Baltimore City, before he acts as such,
shall give bond to the State of Maryland in the penal sum
of thirty thousand dollars; the Clerk of the Court of Com-
mon Pleas, before he acts as such, shall give bond to the
State of Maryland in the penal sum of fifty thousand
dollars; and the Clerk of the Baltimore City Court, before
he acts as such, shall give bond to the State of Maryland,
in the penal sum of twenty thousand dollars. Said bonds
shall be given by each of said clerks, respectively, with
security or securities to be approved by a judge of the
Court of which he is clerk, and with condition that he
faithfully perform the duties of his office and account for
^11 funds received under color of his office. Each, of said
clerks, respectively, shall record his said bond in the office
of the Court, of which he is clerk and thereafter file the
same with the State Comptroller. Each of said clerks shall
give a new bond in like manner on or before the first day
of December of the second year following his qualification
in office.

471. If any of the clerks of said Courts shall fail to give
. bond as hereinbefore directed, it shall be regarded as a
misdemeanor in office, and upon conviction thereof he shall
be removed.
