492. The City Register shall pay to the watchmen authorized
by Sections 491 and 493 the sum of fifteen hundred dollars
per annum, as and for their respective salaries, in the same
manner as is provided for the payment of the salaries of the
bailiffs of the Courts.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1945.

CHAPTER 641.
(House Bill 171).

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 103
of Article 83 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1939 Edi-
tion), title "Sales and Notices", sub-title "Fair Trade Act",
relating to contracts relating to sale of commodities from
vending equipment.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 103 of Article 83 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1939 Edition), title "Sales and Notices", sub-title
"Fair Trade Act", be and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted,
with amendments, to read as follows:

103. No contract relating to the sale or resale of a com-
modity which bears, or the label or container of which bears,
or the vending equipment from which a commodity is sold to
consumer bears, the trade-mark, brand, or name of the pro-
ducer or distributor of such commodity and which commodity
is in free and open competition with commodities of the same
general class produced or distributed by others shall be deemed
in violation of any law of the State of Maryland by reason
of any of the following provisions which may be contained in
such contract:

(A) That the buyer will not resell such commodity at less
than the minimum price stipulated by the seller.

(B) That the buyer will require of any dealer to whom he
may resell such commodity an agreement that he will not,
in turn, resell at less than the minimum price stipulated by
the seller.

(C) That the seller will not sell such commodity:
(1) to any wholesaler, unless such wholesaler will agree
not to resell the same to any retailer unless the retailer will
in turn agree not to resell the same except to consumers for
