as fines and forfeitures, unless the owner of such cattle, swine
or live stock, shall, within sixty days from the time of sale,
claim such residue and prove before said justice of the peace
that he is entitled thereto.
The sheriff, any deputy sheriff, any constable or other peace
officer of Dorchester County, so seizing and impounding any
such cattle, swine or live stock, under the provisions of this
section, shall in no way be responsible in civil damages for any
such seizure or impounding. The provisions of this section
shall not in any way be construed as repealing any existing
law, either public general or public local, relating to estray or
trespassing cattle, swine or live stock, or to those laws known
as fence laws, but is passed only as an additional remedy in
that part of Hooper's Island or Election District No. 6 here-
tofore mentioned.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1945.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact with amendments Section 113
of the Code of the Public Local Laws of Prince George's
County (1943 Flack's Edition) sub-title Brentwood, pro-
viding for the creation of the office of Chief of Police in lieu
of the office of Town Marshal and to otherwise provide for
the maintenance and operation of the Police Department;
providing for certain changes in the duties of other officials
and to repeal Section 114 of the Public Local Laws of Prince
George's County (1943 Flack's Edition), sub-title Brent-
wood, which section provided for the appointment and em-
powering a police justice to act within the Town of Brent-
wood.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 113 of the Public Local Laws of Prince
George's County (1943 Flack's Edition) sub-title Brentwood,
be repealed and re-enacted with amendments to read as
follows:
113. That the Mayor with the approval of the majority of
the Town Council shall appoint a Clerk, a Chief of Police, and
