a Health Officer, who shall hold office for one year, or until
their successors are appointed and qualified. The Clerk, Chief
of Police, and Health Officer shall each, with the approval of
the Mayor and Town Council, appoint such assistant or assist-
ants as the Council may allow, and shall be responsible for the
enforcement of such ordinances, policies, or directives as
the Mayor and Town Council may prescribe. The Council shall
fix the compensation of each and all of the subordinates under
them, and shall prescribe their duties except as otherwise
herein provided.

The Clerk shall keep the minutes of the proceedings of the
Mayor and Town Council in a book or books to be provided
by the Mayor and Council, and such minutes, after approval
by the Mayor and Council, shall be available for inspection by
all persons interested therein at any regular meeting of the
Mayor and Town Council, or at other reasonable times by ap-
pointment. The Clerk shall receive the taxes and other moneys
due the Town, and deliver the same to the Treasurer, keeping
an accurate record of each item.

The Treasurer shall keep all moneys belonging to the Town,
and disburse the same only in accordance with the ordinances
and orders of the Mayor and Town Council, and in keeping
with the provisions of this Act. The Clerk and Treasurer shall
each furnish bond to the Council in such penalties and with
such sureties as the Mayor and Council may require.

The Chief of Police shall enforce the ordinances of the
Town and preserve the peace and good order therein, and for
this purpose, he and his subordinates shall, within the cor-
porate limits of the Town, be vested with the same power and
authority as the County Police for Prince George's County
now or may hereafter have under the laws of the State.

The Health Officer shall make such inspections and take
such action as may be necessary and appropriate for the main-
tenance and preservation of the public health and for the main-
tenance of proper sanitation within the Town. For this pur-
pose, he and his subordinates shall, within the corporate limits
of the Town, be vested with the same power and authority as
any Health Officer of the State may now or shall hereafter
possess.

SEC. 2. Be it further enacted, That Section 114 of the Public
Local Laws of Prince George's County (1943 Flack's Edition)
be and the same is hereby repealed.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1945.
