(b) The original papers in all other cases shall not be
destroyed until the lapse of at least 13 years from the date of
filing.

SEC. 2. And be it -further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1945.

CHAPTER 70.
(Senate Bill 68)

AN ACT to add a new section to Article 41 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1939 Edition), title "Governor—Execu-
tive and Administrative Department", sub-title "Governor",
said new section to be known as Section 42A, and to follow
immediately after Section 42 of said Article, relating to the
assignment of chapter numbers to acts of the General As-
sembly of Maryland and to the duties of the Governor and
the Secretary of State in connection therewith.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That a new section be and it is hereby added to Article
41 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1939 Edition), title
"Governor—Executive and Administrative Departments", sub-
title "Governor", said new section to be known as Section 42A,
to follow immediately after Section 42 of said Article, and to
read as follows:

42A. The Governor shall deliver, or cause to be delivered,
to the Secretary of State, or to such person in the office of the
said Secretary as the latter may designate, every Bill approved
by the Governor immediately after such approval; and shall
also so deliver on the day on which it became law every Bill
which shall become law without his approval. The Governor
shall also deliver to the Secretary of State, or the person des-
ignated by the said Secretary, all Bills which fail to become
law through his refusal or failure to approve the same after
the adjournment of the General Assembly.

The Secretary of State shall procure and keep a well-bound
volume for each session of the General Assembly, to be known
as "Record of Chapter Numbers", in which he shall enter or
cause to be entered in the order in which they become law all
measures (Bills) which are enacted by the General Assembly.
The Secretary of State shall assign chapter numbers to the
Bills delivered to him in the order in which they were approved
