SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 48 of Article 41 of the Annotated Code
of Maryland (1939 Edition), title "Governor—Executive and
Administrative Departments", sub-title "Governor", be and it
is hereby repealed and that a new section, to be known as Sec-
tion 48 of Article 41, to follow immediately after Section 47
of said Article, be and it is hereby enacted in lieu thereof,
to read as follows:

48. The Governor may remit the whole or any part of any
fine or forfeiture.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1946.

CHAPTER 54.

(House Bill 101)

AN ACT to repeal Section 7 of Article 19 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1939 Edition), title "Comptroller", re-
quiring the State Comptroller to keep his office in the build-
ing now occupied by him in the City of Annapolis.

WHEREAS, this section was enacted in 1852, prior to the
adoption of the Constitution of 1867, Section 1 of Article 6
of which requires the State Comptroller and the State Treas-
urer to maintain offices at the seat of government, thereby
making this section unnecessary; therefore

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 7 of Article 19 of the Annotated 'Code of
Maryland (1939 Edition), title "Comptroller", be and it is
hereby repealed.

SEC. 2. And, be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1945.
