power and authority to maintain, use, and operate the said
property, if and when acquired by it, for the use and benefit
of the public and to pass such ordinances and to enter into
such contracts as may be necessary to carry into effect the
provisions of this section.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1945.

CHAPTER 52.
(House Bill 133)
AN ACT authorizing and directing the County Commissioners
of Worcester County to create and establish a Sinking Fund
for the payment of the interest and principal of the bonds of
said County now outstanding and to transfer certain funds
and U. S. Government bonds of said county to said Fund
and to repeal Sections 1 to 6, inclusive, of Article 24 of the
Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition),
title "Worcester County", sub-title "Almshouses".
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the County Commissioners of Worcester County be
and they are hereby authorized and directed to create and
establish a Fund to be known as the "Sinking Fund of Wor-
cester County", and to be used exclusively and solely for the
payment of the interest and principal of the bonds of said
County now outstanding and for no other purpose whatsoever.
The said County Commissioners are hereby authorized and
directed to transfer and credit to said Fund the sum of Forty-
eight Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($48, 500. 00) received
from the sale of the almshouse farm and property, which sum
is now invested in United States Government bonds and the
further sum of One Hundred and One Thousand Five Hundred
Dollars ($101, 500. 00) of Worcester. County funds, which is
now invested in United States Government bonds. The said
County Commissioners are hereby authorized and empowered
in their discretion to transfer to said Sinking Fund, from
time to time, any other funds of said Worcester County which
are not specifically appropriated or dedicated for some other
purpose, to the end that there may be a sufficient amount in
said Sinking Fund to pay the interest and principal of the
bonds of said Worcester County now outstanding as they
