CHAPTER 411.
(Senate Bill 403)

AN ACT to authorize and direct the County Commission-
ers of Garrett County to borrow a sum of money for
the purpose of paying the teachers in said County a
bonus during the months of January-June, inclusive,
1945.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the County Commissioners of Garrett County be and
they are hereby authorized and directed to bor-
row, on their note or notes, not to exceed the
sum of Nine Thousand One Hundred and Eighty Dollars
($9, 180. 00) for the purpose of paying each teacher in
the public schools of Garrett County a bonus of - Ten
Dollars ($10. 00) per month fox1 the months of January,
February, March, April, May and June, 1945. Said note
or notes shall bear interest not exceeding five per cent.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That the said County
Commissioners shall include in their next tax levy a suffi-
cient sum to pay such note or notes, with interest thereon,
and they are hereby authorized and directed to pay said
bonus for the said months of January, February and
March, 1945, not later than April 10, 1945, and monthly
for the remaining three months thereafter.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act is
hereby declared to be an emergency law and necessary for
the immediate preservation of the public health and safety,
and having been passed by a yea and nay vote, supported
by three-fifths of all of the members elected to each of the
two Houses of the General Assembly, the same shall take
effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 412.

AN ACT to repeal Section 48 of Article 12 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title
"Garrett County, " sub-title "Bridges, " said section re-
lating to the building of a bridge over Casselman River.
