and subscribe the oath prescribed by the Constitution of
the State of Maryland, and each shall annually give cor-
porate surety bond to the State of Maryland in such sum
as the State Comptroller may prescribe, with condition
that he faithfully perform the duties of his office and
account for all funds received under color of his office.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect on June 1, 1945.

CHAPTER 401.
(Senate Bill 325)

AN ACT to repeal Section 55 of Article 17 of the Anno-
tated Code of Maryland (1939 Ed. ), title "Clerks of
Courts, " sub-title "Clerk of the Court of Appeals, " and
to enact in lieu thereof a new Section, to be known as
Section 55, and to follow immediately after Section 54 of
said Article, providing for the bond of the Clerk of the
Court of Appeals.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That Section 55 of Article 17 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1939 Ed. ), title "Clerks of Courts, " sub-title
"Clerk of the Court of Appeals, " be and the same is hereby
repealed, and that a new Section be and it is hereby enacted
in lieu thereof, said new Section to be known as Section 55,
to follow immediately after Section 54 of said Article, and
to read as follows:

55. The Clerk of the Court of Appeals, before he acts
as such, shall give bond to the State of Maryland in such
penal sum as the State Comptroller may prescribe, with
security or securities to be approved by a Judge of the
Court of Appeals, and with condition that he faithfully
perform the duties of his office and account for all funds
received under color of his office. He shall give a new bond
in like manner on or before the first day of December of
each second year following his qualifications in office. Such
bonds shall be filed with the State Comptroller.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect on June 1, 1945.
