(1930 Edition), title "Washington-County", sub-title "Clear-
spring", relating to the election of town officials.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 121 of Article 22 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Washington
County", sub-title "Clearspring", be and it is hereby repealed
and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:

121. On the Second Monday in October of 1945, and of every
second year thereafter, a primary election shall be held to
nominate candidates for the positions of burgess, assistant
burgess, and three commissioners. The citizens of said town
of the age of twenty-one years and upwards, having resided
therein for the space of six months next preceding the first
Monday in November, 1945, on that day, and on the first
Monday in November in each and every second year there-
after, are authorized to elect one burgess, one assistant bur-
gess and three commissioners for said town, said commission-
ers to be owners of real estate therein; all persons elected
shall have resided within the limits of said town for at least
two years next preceding the election. The services of said
commissioners shall be gratuitous and without pay.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby
declared to be an emergency law and necessary for the imme-
diate preservation of the public health and safety and having
been passed upon by yea and nay vote, supported by three-
fifths of all the members elected to each of the two Houses of
the General Assembly, the same shall take effect from the
date of its passage.

(House Bill 236)

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section 51
of Article 87 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1939
Edition), title "Sheriffs", sub-title "Deputy Sheriffs", pro-
viding that members of volunteer fire companies in Wash-
ington County may be designated and serve as deputy
sheriffs.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
