SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1945.

CHAPTER 322.

(Senate Bill 479)

AN ACT to authorize, empower and direct the County
Commissioners of Anne Arundel County to take charge
of the maintenance and repair of roads within the limits
of Gibson Island, in the Third Election District of Anne
Arundel County, and to authorize the County Commis-
sioners of Anne Arundel County to levy a special tax
of not more than five cents per $100. 00 on all assessable
property, as laid out and shown on the plat of Gibson
Island for maintenance and repair of. roads in Gibson
Island and relating to the duties of the treasurer of

Anne Arundel County in the collection and disposition
of said special tax.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the County Commissioners of Anne Arundel County
shall take charge of the maintenance and repairs of the
roads within the limits of Gibson Island in the Third
Election District of Anne Arundel County.

Hereafter, at the time of making the annual levy, the
County Commissioners of Anne Arundel County shall
annually levy on land subject to taxation within the limits
of Gibson Island a special road tax of not more than five
cents^ per hundred, on all assessable property, as laid out
and shown on the plat of Gibson Island, which said tax
shall be used only for road maintenance and repair in
Gibson Island, and which special tax shall be in addition
to the general tax now provided by law.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That the treasurer of
Anne Arundel County shall turn over to the County Com-
missioners of Anne Arundel County all proceeds from said
special tax which shall be used exclusively to maintain and
repair roads on Gibson Island as herein provided. The
treasurer of Anne Arundel County is hereby authorized
to retain an amount to cover an administration cost not
exceeding five percent of the total amount collected from
said special tax as herein provided.
