SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1945.

CHAPTER 323.
(Senate Bill 293)

AN ACT to add three new sections to Article 3 of the Code
of Public Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title

. "Baltimore County, " to be under a new sub-title "Taxi-
cabs, " said new sections to be known as Sections 753,
754 and 755 and to follow immediately after Section 752
of said Article, providing generally for the regulation
in Baltimore County of taxicabs and their owners and
operators, by the County Commissioners of Baltimore
County and providing penalties for violations of such
regulations.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That three new sections be and they are hereby added to
Article 3 of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland
(1930 Edition), title "Baltimore County, " to be under a
new sub-title "Taxicabs, " said new sections to be known
as Sections 753, 754 and 755, to follow immediately after
Section 752 of said Article, and to read as follows:

TAXICABS

753. The term "Taxicab" as used in this sub-title shall
embrace any motor vehicle for hire designed to carry seven
persons or less, including the driver, operated upon any
public street or highway in Baltimore County, or, on ca]l
or demand, accepting or soliciting passengers indiscrimi-
nately for transportation for hire between such points
along public streets or highways in Baltimore County, as
may be directed by the passenger or passengers so being
transported; provided that nothing in this sub-title shall
be construed to include as a taxicab a motor vehicle oper-
ated, with the approval of the Public Service Commission
of Maryland, on fixed routes and schedules.

754. In order to protect the public health, safety and
welfare of the citizens of Baltimore County and other per-
sons who may use taxicab facilities therein, the County
Commissioners of Baltimore County are hereby authorized
and empowered to enact, amend and repeal ordinances, to
fix requirements for the ownership and operation of taxi-
cabs in Baltimore County and to provide for inspection
