OFFICE OF THE SECRETARY OF STATE
To the Clerk of the Court of Appeals:
I, WILLIAM J. MCWILLIAMS, SECRETARY OF STATE, OF THE
STATE OF MARYLAND, pursuant to the direction contained in
Chapter 441 of the Acts of the General Assembly of Maryland
of 1922', DO HEREBY CERTIFY, That at the General Election held
in this State on Tuesday, November 7, 1944, an Act known as
Chapter 772 of the Acts of the General Assembly of 1943, was
submitted the voters of the State of Maryland for their
adoption or rejection, under provisions of Article 16 of the
Constitution of the State, said Act being:
"An Act proposing an amendment to Article IV of the
Constitution of Maryland, title 'Judiciary Department',
amending Section 5 (under sub-title Tart 1—General
Provisions'), Section 14 (under sub-title Tart II—
Court of Appeals'), providing for a Court of Appeals
of five judges and relating to number, selection, qualifi-
cations and duties of the judges of the Court of Ap-
peals and other Courts. "
AND I DO CERTIFY, That at said election 130, 478 votes were
cast in favor of the adoption of said Chapter 772 of the Acts
of 1943, and 72, 773 votes were cast against the adoption of said
Act, in the State of Maryland; and a majority being cast for
the adoption thereof, it was thereby ratified by the voters of
the State of Maryland and is effective January 1, 1945.
