To the Clerk of the Court of Appeals:

I, WILLIAM J. McWILLIAMS, SECRETARY OF STATE, OF THE
STATE OF MARYLAND, pursuant to the direction contained in
Chapter 441 of the Acts of the General Assembly of Maryland
of 1922, DO HEREBY CERTIFY, That at the General Election held
in this State on Tuesday, November 7, 1944, an Act known as
Chapter 490 of the Acts of the General Assembly of 1943, was
submitted the voters of the State of Maryland for their
adoption or rejection, under provisions of Article 16 of the
Constitution of the State, said Act being:

"An Act proposing an amendment to Section 9 of Article
5 of the Constitution of Maryland, title 'Attorney-Gen-
eral and State's Attorneys', relating to the salary of
State's Attorneys; ".

AND I DO CERTIFY, That at said election 123, 340 votes were
cast in favor of the adoption of said Chapter 490 of the
Acts of 1943, and 67, 295 votes were cast against the adoption
of said Act, in the State of Maryland; and a majority being
cast for the adoption thereof, it was thereby ratified by the
voters of the State of Maryland.
