To the Clerk of the Court of Appeals:

I, WILLIAM J. McWILLIAMS, SECRETARY OF STATE, OF THE
STATE OF MARYLAND, pursuant to the direction contained in
Section 317 of Article 33 of the Annotated Code of Maryland
(1939 Edition), DO HEREBY CERTIFY, That, at the General Elec-
tion held in this State on Tuesday, November 7, 1944, an Act,
known as Chapter 627 of the Acts of General Assembly 1943,
was submitted to the voters of Washington County for their
adoption or rejection, under the provisions of Article 16 of the
Constitution of the State, said Act being:

"An Act to repeal and re-enact, with amendments. Section
42 of Article 2B of the Code (1939 Edition), title
'Alcoholic Beverages7,, making it unlawful to sell any
alcoholic beverages on Sunday in Washington County. "

AND i bo CERTIFY, That at said election 4, 606 votes were cast
in favor of the adoption of Chapter 627 of the Acts of 1943,
and 14, 311 votes were cast against the adoption of said Act,
in Washington County, and a majority being cast against the
adoption thereof, the same has failed of ratification.
