(House Joint Resolution 4)
A Joint Resolution requesting the United States Fish and
Wildlife Service to remove restrictions as to feeding wild
fowl and the use of live decoys for taking wild waterfowl.
WHEREAS, the wild waterfowl population has increased to
approximately 150, 000, 000, as reported by the United States
Fish and Wildlife Service; and
WHEREAS, such increase justifies the taking of a reasonable
number of wild waterfowl for food and sport; and
WHEREAS, certain restrictions placed on the method of taking
wild waterfowl are conducive to violations and do not assist
materially in the conservation of wild waterfowl and said re-
strictions are practically unenforceable and foster and encour-
age disrespect for the laws of the land; therefore, be it
Resolved, that the United States Fish and Wildlife Service
be, and hereby is, requested to remove the restrictions on the
feeding of wild waterfowl and the restriction on the use of
live decoys for the purpose of taking wild waterfowl; and be
it further
Recommended, that measures be taken for the strict enforce-
ment of the daily bag limit; and be it further
Resolved, that copies of this Resolution be forwarded to the
Secretary of the Interior, the Chairmen of the U. S. Senate
and House Committees on Wildlife, members of the U. S. Sen-
ate and House of Representatives of Maryland and Virginia
in Congress assembled, the Chairman of Ducks Unlimited for
the Maryland District, members of the Anne Arundel County
Delegation of the Maryland State Legislature and the Mary-
land Game and Inland Fish Commission.
