performed by Assistant Treasurers, as provided in Section 195
of this Article, and shall be paid in the same manner and
under the same conditions as Assistant Treasurers are paid in
accordance with provision of Section 195 of this Article. In
addition to their duties as Assistant Treasurers the Assistant
Treasurers appointed under this section shall perform such
additional duties as may be prescribed by the Board of County
Commissioners of Montgomery County.

The Board of County Commissioners shall, furnish to each
of the Assistant Treasurers mentioned in this section, such cler-
ical help as may be necessary for the proper transaction of the
business of their office and at such compensation as may be
fixed by the said Board of County Commissioners. The Board
of County Commissioners shall furnish each of the Assistant
Treasurers mentioned in this section with adequate office space
in or near the County Buildings at Bethesda and Silver Spring,
and shall also furnish them with heat, light, equipment and
supplies necessary to conduct the business of their offices.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That all laws, or por-
tions of laws, inconsistent or in conflict with the provisions of
this Act, be and they are hereby repealed to the extent of
such conflict or inconsistencies.

SEC. B. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby
declared to be an emergency law and necessary for the imme-
diate preservation of the public health and safety and having
been passed upon by yea and nay vote, supported by three-
fifths of all the members elected to each of the two Houses of
the General Assembly of Maryland, the same shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 1047.
(House Bill 736)

AN ACT to add a new section to Article 52 of the Annotated
Code of Maryland (1943 Supplement), title "Justices of the
Peace", sub-title "Magistrates for Juvenile Causes", said
new section to be known as Section 84A, to follow imme-
diately after Section 84, relating to the jurisdiction of such
magistrates in Montgomery County in the matters of deten-
tion and commitments of minors.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That a new section be and the same is hereby added to
