creased by not exceeding fifteen dollars per month, during the
period of two years from June 1, 1945, provided that this in-
crease shall be paid only to the extent that there are available
funds in the Police Department Surplus Account No. 280-A-3.
Provided further, that in event there are not sufficient funds in
said Surplus Account to pay both the increase of salary for
present members of the Police Force and the increased pension
for said retired former members then both shall share the avail-
able funds proportionately.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1945.

AN ACT to add a new section to Article 12 of the Code of Pub-
lic Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Garrett
County", sub-title "County Commissioners", to be known as
Section 84A and to follow immediately after Section 84 of
said Article, relating to the duties of the County Commis-
sioners of Garrett County as a Road Board, and providing
for salary and reimbursement for personal expense of road
administration.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That a new section be and it is hereby added to Article 12
of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition),
title "Garrett County", sub-title "County Commissioners", said
new section to be known as Section 84A, to follow immediately
after Section 84 of said Article, and to read as follows:
84A. The County Commissioners of Garrett County are au-
thorized and empowered to control and regulate the public
roads and bridges in said County, subject to the provisions of
Article 89B of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1939 Edi-
tion); they shall sit as a Road Board once in each month, and
oftener if deemed by them necessary to the public interest,
for the consideration and determination of matters relating to
county roads and bridges; and at such meetings each County
Commissioner shall inform the Board of conditions affecting
roads and bridges in said county, so far as the same have come
to his knowledge. It shall be the duty of the County Com-
missioners to make careful inspection of the roads and road
