1768 LAWS OF MARYLAND. [CH. 1013

377AE. The County Commissioners of Anne Arundel County
when exercising the powers vested in them to issue licenses as
authorized by Section 377A of Article 2 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland as enacted by Chapter 321 of the Acts
of 1941 shall be and hereby re authorized to designate the
kinds and types of so called walkethons, dance marathons, en-
durance contests and all other kinds or types of meets, contests
and events which may be operated in Anne Arundel County, and
to make regulations for the operation thereof in Anne Arundel
County under said licenses, and may designate kinds, classes
and types of meets, contests and events which may not be
operated in Anne Arundel County as detrimental to the
health, morals and safety of the people and property of Anne
Arundel County. The County Commissioners of Anne Arundel
County are authorized and empowered to establish regula-
tions governing, authorizing, prohibiting, regulating or con-
trolling the method or means of issuance or participation in
any award or wager upon the result of any such walkethon,
dance marathon, endurance contest or other kind of contest,
meet, or event operated in Anne Arundel County pursuant
hereto. Nothing herein shall be construed to authorize the
County Commissioners of Anne Arundel County to make any
regulation for the operation of any event, contest or meet,
otherwise licensed and regulated by Law, except as herein
provided for. All licenses provided for hereunder shall be is-
sued as provided for by Section 377A of Article 2 of the Code
of Public Local Laws of Maryland, as enacted by Chapter 321
of the Acts of 1941. Nothing contained in Sections 288 to 301
inclusive of Article 27 of the Code of Public General Laws
of Maryland (1939 Edition), shall be construed to prohibit or
make unlawful the operation of any amusement, contest, meet
or event, or the participation in any award or wager upon the
result of any such amusement, contest, meet or event, operated
pursuant to regulations adopted pursuant to the powers grant-
ed by Sections 377A, 377AC, 377AD and 377AE of Article 2
of the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That Section 8A of Article
56 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1939 Edition) as
enacted by Chapter 963 of the Acts of 1943, and Sections 292
and 293 of Article 2 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland (1930 Edition), be and the same are hereby repealed
in so far as said sections conflict with this Act, or conflict
with any regulation adopted hereunder.

SEC. 3. And be it further enacted, That if any word, phrase,
clause, sentence or other part or parts of this Act, or if any
section of this Act shall be held unconstitutional, such un-
constitutionality shall not affect the validity of the remaining
