demonstration area or areas most advantageous to the peo-
ple of Maryland,

The Board of Public Works is hereby authorized to con-
fer with the Board of County Commissioners in the County
or Counties in which the site is located for the purpose of
obtaining the approval of the Board or Boards of County
Commissioners, if possible, of an agreement whereby the
County or Counties would receive reimbursement for any
reduction in the tax assessable basis arising out of the
acquisition by the Board of Public Works of property in
the County or Counties to be used for the purpose aforesaid.

The Board of Public Works, after having given due con-
sideration to the written recommendations submitted by
the Board of Natural Resources, is hereby authorized, as
funds are made available in the budget, to acquire by gift
or purchase real property adjacent to the Chesapeake Bay
and its tributaries, said property so acquired by the Board
of Public Works shall be used as a recreation and demon-
stration area or areas for the social and economic better-
ment of the people of Maryland and shall be administered
by one or more of the several Departments represented on
the Board of Natural Resources.

No funds made available to carry out the provisions of
this Act shall be used to acquire any property which is
being operated as a bathing beach or beach resort and which
has been so operated for two years immediately prior to
the passage of this Act.

Eighty-five (85%) per centum of all revenues received
from any land acquired under the provisions of this sec-
tion, or from any improvements thereon or developments
thereof while under the control and management of said
Board of Natural Resources, shall be paid into the State
Treasury and the remaining fifteen (15%) per centum
shall be paid to the County or Counties in which such rec-
reation and demonstration area or areas are located.

SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall
take effect June 1, 1945.
