of any compensation heretofore allowed him for attending
sessions of the Circuit Court of Talbot County and
of all fees and charges in criminal cases to which he is
entitled by law except the charges now paid by the County
Commissioners for taking persons to any state institution.
The Sheriff shall, however, be entitled to receive the
amount he is now, or may hereafter, be allowed to receive
by law for the keeping and boarding of prisoners confined
in the County Jail and all fees to which he may be entitled
in civil cases. The Sheriff shall also be entitled to mileage
for the use of his automobile in connection with all crim-
inal business, the mileage to be at the rate of 10 cents (l0c)
per mile. On the first of each month he shall submit an
itemized bill under affidavit for mileage and any other
expenses for which the County may be liable.

(b) The Sheriff of Talbot County is hereby authorized
to appoint, subject to the approval of the County Com-
missioners, a Deputy Sheriff, who shall assist him in the
performance of the duties of his office and who shall be
paid an annual salary, of Twelve Hundred Dollars
($1, 200. 00), payable in equal semi-monthly installments
by the County Commissioners of said County, and mileage
for the use of his automobile in connection with all crim-
inal business, the mileage to be at the rate of ten cents
(10c) per mile. It shall be the duty of the Sheriff and his
Deputy to serve all writs of summons, or other process,
issued by the Trial Magistrate of Talbot County. On the
first of each month, he shall submit an itemized
bill under affidavit for mileage and any other expenses
for which the County may be liable, after said bill has been
approved by the Sheriff.

(c) It shall also be the duty of the Sheriff to collect all
fees and charges to which he may be entitled by law in
criminal cases, and submit an itemized report, under affi-
davit, together with all fees so collected, to the County Com-
missioners at the end of each month, and pay over said fees
and charges to said County Commissioners. The said
Sheriff of Talbot County shall keep a book or books in
which shall be recorded an accurate and full account of
all the fees and charges to be collected by him and in which
shall be indicated the collections as they are made from
time to, time. The said Sheriff shall, subject to the ap-
proval of the County Commissioners, acquire and maintain
equipment and supplies for finger printing, photographing
of prisoners, and the County Commissioners shall pay for
such equipment and supplies. All such books, fingerprint-
ing, photography equipment, supplies and finger prints
shall be the property of Talbot County and shall remain in
