diate preservation of the public health and safety and having
been passed upon by yea and nay vote, supported by three-
fifths of all the members elected to each of the two Houses of
the General Assembly of Maryland, the same shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 945.
(House Bill 565)

AN ACT to authorize and empower the County Commissioners
of Montgomery County to levy a tax on the entire assessable
property of Montgomery County as necessary to meet matur-
ing principal and interest on certain bonds in lieu of the
tax provided in each Act authorizing the issuance of such
bonds.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the County Commissioners of Montgomery County
are hereby authorized and empowered to levy a tax on all of
the assessable property in Montgomery County subject to the
general county tax rate for the fiscal year beginning July 1,
1945, and for each subsequent year sufficient to meet maturities
on bonded debt issued by the County Commissioners of Mont-
gomery County under authority of the Acts of the General
Assembly as hereinafter set forth but payable heretofore from
a tax or taxes chargeable to certain election districts, pre-
cincts, or other sub-divisions of the county whenever, in the
opinion of the County Commissioners, 'the improvement
financed by such bond issue or issues has become a part of the
County or State Road System or has otherwise proved of
general county benefit. The tax herein authorized is to be in
lieu of and not in addition to the various taxes authorized
specifically in the Acts providing for the various bond issis.
This Act specifically applies to the following Acts of the
Legislature:
