Maryland), title "Montgomery County", sub-title "Pooles-
ville", relating to the election of the Commissioners of
Poolesville.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Sections 803, 805 and 806 of the Montgomery
County Code (1939 Edition—being Article 16 of the Code of
Public Local Laws of Maryland), title "Montgomery County",
sub-title "Poolesville", be and they are hereby repealed and re-
enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
803, Until April 30, 1946, the citizens of said town, having
resided therein six months previous thereto shall annually
elect on the \ first Monday in May, five Commissioners of Pooles-
ville, to serve for one year, or until their successors shall be
elected and qualified. The Commissioners elected on the first
Monday in May, 1945, shall continue to serve until the next
biennial; general election for Representatives in Congress to be
held in November, 1946, on said biennial general election and at
every such election thereafter, the citizens of said town, having
resided therein six months previous thereto shall elect the
Commissioners of Poolesville, to serve for two years, or until
their successors shall be elected and qualified. The Commis-
sioners must be substantial citizens resident in said corporate
limits, and must have resided therein for at least six months
next preceding their election; must be owners of real estate
within said corporate limits, and must continue to reside
within said corporate limits during their term of office. They
shall receive no pay for their services, except the president,
who shall receive the fees hereinafter allowed. Any person
desiring to be a candidate for the office of Commissioner shall
file his name with the Clerk to the Commissioners and pay a
fee of One Dollar ($1. 00) not less than thirty (30) days before
the next election.
805. They shall meet in some convenient place in said town,
on or before the first Monday in the month next succeeding
their appointment, and as often thereafter as may be necessary,
to discharge the duties of their office.
806. They shall annually, on or before the first Monday in
the month preceding the next biennial election appoint three
judges of election, who shall conduct the election according to
the election laws of the State, except that the polls shall be
open at eight o'clock A. M., and closed at two o'clock P. M.;
and the judges and clerk shall make their returns to the Com-
missioners, but shall receive no compensation for their services.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act is hereby
declared to be an emergency law and necessary for the imme-
