(j. DREDGING IN THE CHESAPEAKE BAY.

(a) Dredging License. Any person who shall employ any
boat in taking or catching oysters by dredge from the waters of
the Chesapeake Bay, as defined in this Article, shall first
obtain a Chesapeake Bay dredging license for such boat.

(b) How to Apply for a Chesapeake Bay Dredging License.
Any person wishing to take or catch oysters by dredge in the
Chesapeake Bay shall appear before the Department of Tide-
water Fisheries and make application for a Chesapeake Bay
dredging license. Every such applicant shall exhibit to said
Department a custom house certificate showing the name,
size and gross tonnage of the dredge boat to be used and make
oath or affirmation that he is the bona fide owner of such boat;
that there is no lien on said boat held by a non-resident of
Maryland; that he has been a resident of the State for one
year prior to the making of such application; that the custom
house certificate is a true and just certificate; and that said
boat contains no dunnaging, false ceiling, false deck, false
floor or any other structures calculated to conceal any cargo
space or having the effect of concealing any cargo space.

(c) Issuance of License. Upon the receipt of such applica-
tion, and upon making such oath, the Department of Tidewater
Fisheries shall issue a Chesapeake Bay dredging license for
such boat and shall receive therefor Two Dollars ($2. 00) per
gross ton for every gross ton said boat shall measure; and no
allowance or deduction shall be made from the license fee by
reason of dunnaging.

(d) Painted Numbers for Dredge Boats. The Department
of Tidewater Fisheries shall have painted in black figures on
