SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 2 of Article 74 of the Annotated Code of
Maryland (1939 Edition), title "Pilots", be and it is hereby
repealed and re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
2 The board of examiners of Maryland pilots shall consist
of three members composed of the following persons: The pres-
ident of the Chamber of Commerce, the president of the pilot
association and a person to be selected by these two members
from the membership of the Steamship Trade Association,
Incorporated, and the pilots shall pay the said board one
thousand dollars a year to defray the expenses of said board.
SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That this Act shall take
effect June 1, 1945.

AN ACT to repeal and re-enact, with amendments, Section
494 of Article 12 of the Code of Public Local Laws of
Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Garrett County", sub-title
"Sheriff", as said section was amended by Chapter 427 of the
Acts of 1943, increasing the allowance for expenses of Sheriff.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That Section 494 of Article 12 of the Code of Public
Local Laws of Maryland (1930 Edition), title "Garrett Coun-
ty", sub-title "Sheriff", as said section was amended by Chap-
ter 427 of the Acts of 1943, be and it is hereby repealed and
re-enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
494. The County Commissioners of Garrett County shall al-
low said Sheriff each year, first, the actual railway transporta-
tion charges of the Sheriff, his deputies, and the actual cost
of railway tickets of the prisoners, necessary in the convey-
ance of said prisoners to the institutions to which they are
committed; second, the sum of sixty cents per day for keeping
and boarding each prisoner committed to the County Jail;
third, the actual sum expended by him for coal and other
necessaries of said jail, including a telephone; fourth, such
other expenditures as shall have been previously and specific-
ally ordered by the Board in session; and, fifth, such sum as
