CHAPTER 45.

AN ACT to amend the eighty-fifth section of arti-
cle twenty-one of the Code of Public Local Laws
by raising the salary of the Clerk of the Com-
missioners of Washington County, and to substi-
tute therefor the following:

Compensation.

SECTION 85. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, The said clerk shall receive such
compensation as the county commissioners shall
think proper to allow, not less than five hundred
dollars per annum.

CHAPTER 46.

20, 1860.

AN ACT to refund to Mrs. Susan Boyle, of the
city of Annapolis, certain taxes erroneously paid
by her.

Preamble.

WHEREAS, it appears by the certificate of the clerk
to the commissioners for Anne Arundel county,
that Mrs. Susan Boyle has erroneously paid on
the assessment of State tax for the year eighteen
hundred and fifty-seven, five dollars and eighteen
cents, and also two dollars and fifty-nine cents
on assessment for State tax on bank stock, which
had previously been deducted by the bank;
therefore,

Authorised
to pay.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the Treasurer, on the warrant
of the Comptroller, be and he is hereby authorised
to pay to Mrs. Susan Boyle, or to her order, the sum
of seven dollars and seventy-seven cents, it being
the amount of taxes erroneously paid by her.

In force.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.
