CHAP. 27

said commissioners; they may adjourn their meet-
ings from time to time, as they may think proper,
and shall be entitled to two dollars per day for
every day they may attend.

Trustees.

SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That the following
shall be substituted for section one hundred and
twenty-six of said article seventeen: That the taxa-
ble inhabitants of each district at their annual
meeting for the election of Trustees shall have
power to levy a tax for the purchase of sites and
building of school houses.

Assessment.

SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That the following
shall be substituted for section one hundred and
twenty-seven of said article seventeen: The taxables
of any school district when assembled, to elect trus-
tees, may vote such a tax upon the assessable pro-
perty on the district thereof as they may deem suf-
ficient to purchase a site for a school house, build,
keep in repair, and furnish the same with fuel,

books, stationary and appendages; they may at the
same meeting elect a clerk and collector for the dis-
trict by ballot, and may repeal, regulate and modify
all such proceedings as they may think proper, but
no site of a school house shall be changed except
with a vote of a majority of the taxable inhabitants
of the district.

Levy.

SEC. 8. And be it enacted, That the following
shall be a substitute for section one hundred and
twenty of said article: The county commissioners of
Queen Anne's county shall annually levy such sums
of money as will give to each primary school dis-
trict in said county and the Centreville district, the
nett and clear sum of three hundred dollars, to be
ascertained and prescribed by the commissioners of
the school fund, and shall if authorised by the taxa-
ble inhabitants of school district number four, or
any other district in the county, levy such addi-
tional sum on said district for the use thereof, as a
majority of the taxable inhabitants present at the
annual meeting may require, not to exceed two hun-
dred dollars per annum, and the said sums so levied
shall be collected and paid to the treasurer of the
school fund, and the collector of said county shall
collect and pay the same to the treasurer of the
school fund, and the collector of said county shall
collect and pay the same to the said treasurer, and
shall be allowed the same per centage for the col-
