CHAP. 373.

after ten days notice given by the remaining com-
missioners.

Meetings.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That the commission-
ers shall meet at some convenient place in said
town, on or before the first Monday in June next
succeeding their election, and as often thereafter as
may be necessary to discharge the duties of their
office.

Elections.

SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That the commission-
ers shall annually, on or before the first Monday
in April, appoint two judges of elections, who shall
appoint one clerk, and the judges shall conduct the
elections according to the election laws of the State,
but opening the polls, at some convenient place, at
ten o'clock in the morning, and closing the same
at four o'clock in the afternoon; and the judges,
and clerk shall make their returns to the commis-
sioners, and shall each receive two dollars a day
for their services; the first election shall be held
before Samuel C. Viers and Lawrence Lyddane who
are appointed judges for that purpose.

Clerk.

SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That the commission-
ers shall annually appoint a clerk who shall keep
minutes of their proceedings in a well bound book,
which shall be open to the inspection of all persons
interested therein and who shall discharge such
other duties as the commissioners may require.

Chief bailiff.

SEC. 8. And be it enacted, That the voters of the
town shall, annually, at the time of electing com-
missioners, elect a chief bailiff, and the commission-
ers shall appoint a person to fill any vacancy which
may occur in said office during the year; and shall
appoint such under bailiffs as they may deem ex-
pedient.

Street-super-
visor.

SEC. 9. And be it enacted, That the commission-
ers shall annually appoint a supervisor of the
streets.

Compensation.

SEC. 10. And be it enacted, That the commission-
ers shall allow their clerk and supervisor, the chief
bailiff and under bailiff such compensation for their
services as the commissioners may deem reasona-
ble.

Officers to
take oath.

SEC. 11. And be it enacted, That the commission-
ers and all other officers of the corporation, shall
before they enter upon the duties of their office, take
