CHAP. 362.

same manner as is provided with respect to any
other tax, which the said corporation is now autho-
rised to impose.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this act shall
take effect from its passage.

AN ACT to incorporate the Baltimore Gas Light
Company of Guayaquil.

Incorporated.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That E. E. Sprague, Gen. Josi Vila-
mill, Y. V. Clark Jurie, H. E. Root, Wm. H.
Ward, James E. Ward, L. V. Prevost and Wm.
Ferris, their associates, successors and assigns, he
and they are hereby created a body politic and cor-
porate by the name, style and title of the Baltimore
Gas Light Company of Guayaquil, and by such
title shall have perpetual succession, shall be capa-
ble to hold and improve lands in Ecuador; to con-
struct, hold and own gas works; to manufacture
and sell gas, to manufacture and sell gas tar, coke
and all the products from the manufacture of gas;
to run and lay the pipes and mains to distribute
the gas; to manufacture, own, hold and sell gas
fixtures; to hold, work and sell the privilege or ex-
clusive right to sell gas, gas tar and coke, and to
supply mains, pipes and fixtures.

By-laws.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the said com-
pany shall have the power of making and estab-
lishing such by-laws as they may deem necessary
or expedient to carry out the objects of the corpora-

tion; Provided, the same shall not be contrary
to the constitution and laws of this State, and such
by-laws to alter, amend or repeal at their pleasure;
they shall have power to issue certificates of stock
or bonds representing the value of their property,,
rights, privileges or exclusive grants in such form
and manner as the by-laws may determine.

named in this act, or a majority of them, shall at
