CHAP. 23.

jurors and public officers, and with such other
things as their comfort and convenience may re-
quire, which court house and offices when so built
and furnished shall be under the control of and
superintendence of the county commissioners for
Kent county.

Rights, du-
ties, &c.
|
SEC. 2. That the said commissioners appointed in
this act, or, a majority of them shall have full power
and authority to sell and dispose of such part or
parts of the present court house and register's office,
or cause the same to be used in the buildings to be
erected, as they may deem proper, and they may
apply the proceeds to the construction and furnish-
ing of said buildings, and to borrow money from
time to time, and upon such terms as they may
deem proper, at a rate of interest not exceeding six
per cent, per annum, any sum or sums of money
that maybe found necessary for the construction
and furnishing of said court house and offices on
the credit of Kent county, not exceeding in the
whole twelve thousand dollars.

Levy.
|
SEC, 3. That the county commissioners of Kent
county are hereby authorized and required to levy
annually upon the assessable property of Kent
county three thousand dollars for four successive
years, for the construction and furnishing of said
court house and public offices, and that all le-
vies shall be in the name of the commissioners, as
such herein appointed, and payable only to their
order, or the order of a majority of them.

Treasurer-
bond, &c.
|
SEC. 4. That the said commissioners or a majority
of them shall appoint one of their own number or
some other person a treasurer, who shall have in
charge all the moneys levied and borrowed, or
otherwise received, and who shall pay out and dis-
burse the same upon the orders of a majority of the
said commissioners, and keep a full and perfect ac-
count of all moneys disbursed by him, with the
vouchers thereof, which he shall render and exhibit
to the said commissioners whenever required by a
majority so to do, and shall faithfully account for
all moneys received by him as treasurer; that before
he shall act as treasurer; he shall give bond to the
said commissioners, with securities to be approved
by the said commissioners or a majority of them, in
the sum of twenty thousand dollars penalty, condi-
tioned for the faithful execution! of the trust reposed
