the sum in said orders and certificates; Provided,
that the whole amount of all the moneys to be paid
shall not exceed the said sum.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That this act shall
be of force from and after its passage.

CHAPTER 23.

In force.

AN ACT to add a new article to the Code of Pub-
lic Law for Kent county, for taking down the
present Court House and building in which the
office of Register of Wills is kept, and for exe-
cuting a new Court House on the Public Square
in Chestertown, and Fire Proof offices for the
Clerk of the Circuit court and Register of Wills,
and suitable offices for the Sheriff and County
Commissioners, and to provide means for accom-
plishing such purposes.

Passed Feb.
17, 1860.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the following articles be added
to the Code of Public Local Laws for Kent county:
That John S. Constable, Edward Wilking, George
W. Spencer, Caleb W. Spry, James B. Ricaud,
Thomas W. Eliason and Joseph A. Wickes be and
hereby are appointed commissioners, and they or a
majority of them are authorized and empowered to
cause to be taken down the present court house and
buildings in which the offices of the clerk of the
circuit court, county commissioners and register of
wills are held, and to contract for and superintend
the building of a new court house on the public
square in Chestertown and near the site of the
present court house, and for furnishing the said
court house and offices when so erected, and fur-
nished with all necessary cases and receptacles for
the public records and papers, and with all the ne-
cessary furniture for the accommodation of the cir-
cuit court for Kent county, members of the bar,
