CHAPTER 340.

CHAP. 341.

AN ACT to add a new section to article one of the
Code of Public Local Laws, relating to justices
of the peace and constables.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That it shall not be lawful for any
resident of Allegany county, to be sued before any
justice of the peace of said county, out of the elec-

tion district in which he resides; Provided, how-
ever, that upon any cause of action, within the
jurisdiction of a justice of the peace, arising in said
county, any resident may be sued before a justice
of the peace in the election district wherein the
contract was made, or such cause of action did
originate.

Proviso.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That nothing in this
act shall operate or apply so as to prevent residents
of election districts number six and thirteen, in said
county, from being sued in either of said districts.


CHAPTER 341.

Construction.

AN ACT making appropriations for the support
of the Government for the year ending on the
first day of January, eighteen hundred and six-
ty-one.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That for the expenditures in the sup-
port of the Government for the year ending on the
first day of January, eighteen hundred and sixty-
one, the following sums of money or so much
thereof as may be necessary, be and the same are
hereby appropriated, that is to say:

FOR STATE OFFICERS.

Appropria-
tions for the
year 1860.

For the salary of the Governor, three thousand
six hundred dollars; for the salary of the Secre-
tary of State, one thousand dollars; for the salary
of the Private Secretary to the Governor, eight
