complish their purpose of humanity, it is desirable
that they be incorporated; therefore,
|
|
|
Incorporated.
|
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the persons who are now, or
shall hereafter become contributors as hereinafter
prescribed, be and they are hereby created and de-
clared to be a body politic and corporate by the
name and style of the Union Rosine Association of
Baltimore city, and by that name shall have per-
petual succession, with power to have a common
seal, to make contracts, sue and be sued, to take,
hold, mortgage and convey any estate, real, per-
sonal or mixed, the annual income of which at
any time in actual possession shall not exceed six
thousand dollars, appropriated to the purpose of
said charity, and to make by-laws, rules and regu-
lations for the government of the association, not
inconsistent with the constitution and laws of the
United States and of this State.

Members.
|
SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That every woman, on
the payment of not less than three dollars annually,
shall be a member of this association; that every
person may become an annual contributor, and
person, on paying the sum of fifty dollars, shall be
a member for life.

Meetings.
|
SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That this association
shall meet on the first Thursday in January of each
year, at which meeting there shall be chosen a
board of managers to consist of not less than twen-
ty-five nor more than forty women, who shall have
been married, or who are married women at the
time of such election.

Officers, &c.
|
SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the managers
(being duly notified by the officiating secretary)
shall meet within three days after their election,
and shall choose from among their number a presi-
dent, two vice presidents, treasurer and secretary;
they shall have power to make by-laws for their
own government, to fill vacancies in the board,
and to call special meetings of the association
whenever in their judgment it may be expedient;
the whole concerns of the association shall be vested
in the said board of managers, and they shall con-
tinue in office until their successors shall be duly
elected; they shall make an annual report of their
proceedings, and give two weeks previous notice of
