CHAP. 274.

condemnation of such land, and the jury shall re-
duce their inquisition to writing, and sign and seal
the same, and the sheriff shall return the same to
the clerk of the Circuit court for the county, to be
filed among the records of the court, and the same
shall be confirmed by the court at its next session
thereafter, unless cause to the contrary be shewn,
and when confirmed by the court, shall be recorded
among the records of the office of the said clerk,
but if set aside, the court shall order a new inqui-
sition to be taken, as aforesaid, and if confirmed,
and the damages awarded, paid or tendered by the
the said company to the owner or owners of the
property condemned, such inquisition and confirma-
tion shall vest the title and interest of the owners
thereof in the property condemned in said com-
pany.

SEC. 14. And be it enacted, That no dividend of
the earnings of the said company shall be declared
unless the said turnpike shall be kept in good re-
pair and condition for travel, and the question of
declaring a dividend shall be determined by the
stockholders at large at the annual meeting in
March for the election of officers, at which meeting
a full and detailed statement shall be exhibited of
the finances of the said company, which shall be
submitted to the examination of a committee of the
stockholders whose report and the action of the
meeting thereon shall be recorded in a book to be
kept for that purpose, and shall be published once
in some county paper.

SEC. 15. And be it enacted, That as soon as
twenty thousand dollars of the capital stock of said
company shall have been subscribed by private
stockholders, the county commissioners of Balti-
more county, are hereby authorized and required
to subscribe on behalf of said county, five thousand
dollars to the capital stock of said company, and
to levy the same upon the assessable property of
the county.

Repealed.

SEC. 16. And be it enacted, That the act of eigh-
teen hundred and forty-three, chapter one hundred
and fifty-nine, which provides for the incorporation
of the Baltimore and Liberty Turnpike Company,
and the act of eighteen hundred and forty-nine,
chapter, which is a supplement to the
