CHAP. 248.

SEC. 53. Whenever the lease of any lessee of any
said warehouses shall expire, such lessee shall deliver
up the warehouse and its appurtenances, with all
books and papers relating to the business of such
warehouse, to the said commissioners or their order;
and they may sue for and recover the same in the
name of the State.

SEC. 54. Every lessee shall be entitled to the
outage and storage on all tobacco inspected in his
warehouse and ready for shipment, remaining on
hand at the time of the expiration.

SEC. 55. The property in the scales, ropes, blocks,
machinery, iron and weights belonging to any
warehouse, shall be so far vested in the lessee for
the time being, as to vest authority in said lessee
to prosecute any person for any trespass or felony
committed upon the same.

SEC. 56. No lessee of any tobacco warehouses, or
any person employed by him in said warehouse,
shall be engaged in the purchase or sale of tobacco,
except such tobacco as may be grown, by said lessee
or by the person so employed by him; nor shall it
be lawful for any lessee or person employed by him
to receive any gift or emolument whatever, for any
favor or service rendered, except the lawful charges
of such lessee, and the regular pay or hire of such
person employed by said lessee in said warehouse,
under the penalty of fifty dollars in the case of
any lessee so convicted, and twenty dollars in the
case of any employee in any warehouse; one half
to the informer, the other to the Treasurer for the
benefit of the tobacco funds.

SEC. 57. And it shall be the duty of each lessee
of each warehouse, to unstrip and prepare for in-
spection, all tobacco in regular succession, as it
may arrive.
